Hi Friends. Today I'll be reviewing MATILDA THE MUSCAL, AFTER THE BALL, &
BURYING THE EX.

                                                           MATILDA THE MUSICAL

Matilda The Musical was freaking awesome. The critics were right about this amazing
musical. The shows composer TIM MINCHIN did a great job with the songs. There
are five songs that stand out. NAUGHTY Matilda's anthem. LOUD, WHEN I GROW
UP, THE SMELL OF REBELLION & the best one REVOLTING CHILDREN.
At the performance I saw Matilda was played by GABBY GUTIERREZ. GABBY
made history by being the first filipino to play the role of Matilda. She did an awesome
job doing an english accent.  During the song LOUD Mrs. Wormwood tells Miss Honey
how she gets ready for the annual dance competition she enters every year. During the
song WHEN I GROW UP the children actually swing on swings over the orchestra pit,
The children sing about what they will do when they get older. THE SMELL OF
REBELLION has the evil woman MISS. TRUNCHBULL gives the children an extreme
workout. And as for the best one REVOLTING CHILDREN the kids celebrate the
departure of MISS. TRUNCHBULL. The opening of the second act was hilarious.
Matilda's father Mr. Wormwood comes out to  warn the adults in the audience to be
careful not to let their children read books and to think for themselves. At the curtain
call the actors take their bows riding scooters. All in all I highly recomend MATILDA
THE MUSICAL. You'll laugh & cry but you'll have a hell of a good time. TIME magazine
was right. MATILDA was the best show since THE LION KING!

                                                          AFTER THE BALL

After The Ball is a different take on the CINDERRELLA story. Portia Doubleday
(Who played Chris Hargensen in the CARRIE remake)  headlines a cast that
Chris Noth (SEX & THE CITY), Colin Mochrie( WHOSE LINE IS IT
ANYWAY), & LAUREN HOLLY( PICKET FENCES, MOTIVE(. Portia plays
Kate who wants to work at her father's (Noth) fashion design house but her father's
new wife & daughters try to push her out. Kate however thinks her father's wife is up
to something so she disguises herself as a man to take her down. While she's in
disguise Kate starts to fall in love with a co-worker. Portia has come a long way since
CARRIE, I recomend  AFTER THE BALL if only for Portia's performance. Also for
Colin Mochrie. He plays a pretty good part in it.

                                                      BURYING THE EX

JOE SANTE is back and better than ever. Burying The Ex
was scary & funny at the same time. ANTON YELCHIN
pkays Max. He has an overbearing girlfriend who dictactes
what he can and cannot do. One day while at Max's job he
& EVELYN( ASHLEY GREENE) make a wish in fronf
evil idol to be together forever. Big mistake. Because no sooner
does Evelyn gets hit by a bus and dies. But as soon as Max falls
in love with ice cream shop owner (ALEXANDRA DADDARIO)
Evelyn reuturns from the grave. As with hie earlier films JOE DANTE
uses some of his acting regulars. The great DICK MILLER plays a
desk cop while Joe's fomer dierector of photogrphy the great JOHN
plays a grumpy customer. Max works in a horror movie memoribillia
store. So if you want to laugh and sceam a la the great horror comedy
CREEPSHOW I recommend BURYING THE EX I really loved it.

So those are my reviews for this week. I will review the
anticapated THE MINIONS & THE GALLOWS. So
enjoy MATILDA & the movies I talked about out &
save me some popcorn. See you next time & enjoy the
                    movies.

  1. The musical sound great. That's Roald Dahl book isn't it. He's work tends to attract musical attention. The movies sound kinda second rate I don't know neither one appeals to me. It going to be hard to top Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella. And I'm not in to Horror that much. I look forward to what you think of Minions.
