A note about James Horner


                   When writing about legendary composer James Horner I forgot to mention
                   to of his other best scores of the of the 1990'S. First up: 1991'S
                   THE ROCKETEER. The films about an average joe in the 1930'S who along
                  with his friend build a flying jet pack. The film stars, BILLY CAMPBELL,
                 ALAN ARKIN, JENNIFER CONNELLY, and the great TIMOTHY DALTON.
                If you haven't seen it rent it or buy it. I gaurantee you'll love the film and the score.
                Movie number two: 1995'S JUMANJI. That movie is about a board game come
              to life. JUMANJI stars the late great ROBIN WILLIAMS, BONNIE HUNT,
              JONATHAN HYDE a very young KRISTEN DUNST, BEBE NUEWORTH,
          DAVID ALAN GRIER and BRADLEY MICHEAL PIERCE( Chip from BEAUTY
            & THE BEAST). So I recommend you see those two movies and then buy the
          scores. You wont be dissapointed.

                                               REMEMBERING JAMES HORNER

                          We lost one of the greatest composer this week as James Horner
                         perished in a horrific plane crash/ I first fell in love with James
                         Horner's music while watching the movie STAR TREK 2 THE
                         WRATH OF KHAN. I fell even more in love with James
                         with STAR TREK 3 THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK. He
                       would have a slew of hit scores starting with COCOON. He
                      then followed that up with AN AMERICAN TAIL, BATTERIES
                     NOT INCLUDED, AN AMERICAN TAIL 2 FIVEL GOES WEST.
                    He also did two of my personel favorites in 1989'S HONEY I SHRUNK
                 THE KIDS & 1995'S CASPER. In HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS he
                 actually made in sound like a live action WARNER BROS. cartoon.
               Like when we lost the great JERRY GOLDSMITH HOLLYWOOD was
             never the same. We wont have his music to look forward too.

Hi Friends. Tonight I'll be talking about the movie INSIDEOUT & the Original Cast Recording of
 the new Broadway Classic FUN HOME.




                                                                          INSIDEOUT

                                The people of PIXAR have done it again. INSIDEOUT is the best
                                film since BRAVE & UP. The great voice cast includes AMY POEHLER,
                                LEWIS BLACK. PHYLLIS SMITH, BILL HADER, & MINDY KALING.
                                The story is about what happens inside the head of an eleven year old
                                Riley Anderson after she is moved from Minnesota to San Fransico.
                                The emotion Sadness accidently touches one of Riley's memories
                                and the emotion Joy tries to fix what Sadness has done because
                                when Sadness touches Riley's memory it turns dark. All of a
                                sudden JOY & SADNESS are sucked up a tube leaving emotions
                                FEAR, DISGUST & ANGER in charge of Riley's mind. The
                                writers give LEWIS BLACK as ANGER the best line in which he
                               says San Fransico & Hawaii have ruined pizza. PHYLLIS SMITH
                               from THE OFFICE & BAD TEACHER was great as Sadness.  BILL
                              HADER(NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2) was unrecognizeable as
                              FEAR.  MINDY KALING(THE MINDY PROJECT) was awesome
                             as DISGUST. AMY POEHLER as JOY was awesome as well. So
                             go see INSIDEOUT but be sure you bring some tissue because during
                            the five minutes you will need them. The next movie I'll review will be
                            TERMINATOR: GENISY followed by THE MINNIONS. Until next

                                                                    FUN HOME
                                        

                           What can I say about the cast recording of FUN HOME. The only
                           thing I can say is how great it is. The score is by first time TONY
                           AWARD winners JEANINE TESORI & LISA KRON who also
                          won the TONY for the best book. What I like about the cast recording
                         of FUN HOME is that they have included little bits of scenes from the
                        show to help us understand the songs. The show is about lesbian
                      cartoonist ALLISON BECHDEL and her coming to terms with her
                      homosexuality at the age of nine. The shows four best songs are
                     RING OF KEYS in which nine year old Allison discribes her
                   feelings after she sees a butch lesbian. Second good song is CHANGING
                  MY MAJOR in wich nineteen year old Allison sings about how well
                 she enjoyed her first lesbian encounter. The third song is WELCOME TO
                OUR HOUSE ON MAPLE AVENUE in which the BECHDEL family\   
              describes how their father likes to keep the house clean. The last good song
             is called COME TO THE FUN HOME in which the BECHDEL children
             sing about the services that the BECHDEL FUNERAL HOME can provide
            for their loved ones in a pretend comercial that their filming. The BECHDEL
           family owned and ran a funeral home hence the shows name. The show is also
          based on the best selling graphic novel ny ALLISON BECHDEL herself.
          FUN HOME would be a great fit at THE LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR
           THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER onstage series. I can't wait for
        FUN HOMES Los Amgeles premire. I'll most likely see it five times in
        while it's in L.A. Newcomers SYDNEY LUCAS and EMILY SKEGGS are
      excellent in the rolls of Small Allison and Medium Allison. They both were
     nominated for TONYS. So go out and get the FUN HOME cast recording.

Hi Friends. Martin here. Here's my long delayed review of JURASSIC WORLD.





                                                            JURASSIC WORLD


                            I was so pleased at the way JURASSIC WORLD turned out.
                            STEVEN SPEILBERG should be proud at the way new
                           director COLIN TREVORROW handle the dinosuars.
                          BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD(TWILIGHT SAGA ECLIPSE
                          and the upcoming PETE'S DRAGON remake) plays Claire
                         the woman in charge of the park. CHRIS PRATT plays Owen
                        a former love intrest of Claire and who happens to be a
                      vilociraptor trainer. With park attendence dwindling Claire
                      decides to have JURASSIC WORLD scientist create a whole
                     new creature. Big mistake. Claire's two nephews Zach & Grey
                   (NICK ROBINSON, TY SIMPKINS) pick the wrong time to
                 visit thier aunt. VINCENT D'ONFRIO of LAW AND ODER:
                 CRIMINAL INTENT fame plays a military commander
              who wants to use the raptors as new weapons but he gets his the
             end. All in all I loved the movie. I can't wait for the sequeal.
             Any one familer with the sitcom MELISSA & JOEY will
            recognize NICK ROBINSON from that show which is ending It's
          5 year run on ABCFAMILY. So run don't walk to JURASSIC WORLD.
          You'll be glad you took the trip. One more thing. I still jumped at the
        scary scenes in the film. Well done everyone.



                   That's my review of JURASSIC WORLD. My next review
                   will of the film INSIDE OUT. I also will try to see a
                  zombie comedy called BUTYING THE EX. A comedy
                 with ASHLEY GREENE( Alice from the TWILGHT SAGA)
               ANTON YELTON( Checkov from the STAR TREK series)
              and ALEXANDRA DADDARIO( Annabeth from the PERCY
              JACKSON series. The film is directed by JOE DANTE( GREMLINS,
             INNERSPACE). JOE DANTE hasn't had a movie on the big screen
            since 2003's SMALL SOLDIERS. Until next time enjoy the movies

                  Hi Friends. Today I will be reviewing the movie SAN ANDREAS.



                                                        SAN ANDREAS
                        San Andrea is a modern day version of EARTHQUAKE.
                       The film starring DWAYNE JOHNSON & CARLA GUGINO
                      working for what I assumed for the 2nd time since RACE TO
                      WITCH MOUNTAIN play about to be divorce couple with
                     a college age daughter. The film opens with a young woman
                     who accidently drives her car of a cliff & they show DWAYNE
                   JOHNSON character doing his job as rescue worker. Cut to
                 actor PAUL GIAMATTI playing a Cal Tech researcher who
              predicts a massive earthquake headed toward California after
             a big quake strikes the Hoover Dam area of Arizona. CARLA
            GUGINO'S caharacter has a boyfriend who is filthy rich
          volunteers to drive CARLA'S daughter who's played by
        hot up & coming actress ALEXANDRA DADDARIO. Once
    in SAN FRANSICO where Daddariro was headed an earthquake
 strikes seperating Daddario's Blake character from her mother's
boyfriend. Blake along with two brothers visiting from England
navigate their way through a totally destroyed SAN FRANSICO
while her parents try to find her. All in all the movies effects
were awesome. If anyone in your family has the film
EARTHQUAKE I highly suuggest you watch it and compare
the two films. My next film to be reviewed will be JURASSIC
WORLD. I'll more than likely be abe to see JURASSIC WORLD
only once since It will be all sold out. Maybe I'll see
TOMORROWLAND for a 4th time. I can't wait for SEPTEMBER
to own the BLU-RAY. Until next time friends enyoy the moves.

                                                                        THE 2015 TONY AWARDS
                                     
                                       I was so pleased at the way THE 2015 TONY AWARDS played out.
                                       Kristen Chenowith & Alan Cumming were awesome host. FUN HOME
                                     was the big winner winning 5 trophys including Best Musical, Best Score,
                                     & Best Lead Actor. FUN HOME is about a woman coming to terms with
                                   her homosexuality after learning her father was gay. Other highlights of the
                                   award show was a song from SOMETHING ROTTEN(wich is coming to
                                  the AHMANSON THEATRE this fall), A song from FINDING NEVERLAND
                                 was also good. As was seeing Ken Wantanabe sing for THE KING AND I.
                                FUN HOME would be a nice fit for THE LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR
                              THE PERFORMING ARTS onstage series. To see a full list of Tony

                             next onstage series musical I hope they get HEATHERS THE MUSICAL.
                            It's co-created by KEVIN MURPHY who created the smash hit musical
                           REEFER MADNESS. I'll be seeing the musical MATILDA next month
